What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic care is a healthcare profession that evaluates the body’s movements and their effects on the nervous system, focusing on the spine and other joints of the body. Chiropractic services are used to treat common musculoskeletal complaints, including back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints of the arms or legs, and headaches. Doctors of chiropractic (DCs), through their whole-person, patient-centered approach, elevate the health and wellness of their communities by helping people of all ages live more fully and actively. Chiropractors use adjustments to restore joint range of motion and support the nervous system. They help patients maintain optimal health while avoiding unnecessary drugs or surgery.
Chiropractors are trained to diagnose and treat the cause of our aches and pains and may recommend rehabilitative exercises and provide nutritional and lifestyle counseling. Accidents, falls, stress, or overexertion can negatively impact your spine or other joints. These changes impact tissues, the nervous system, and other areas of the body. Left unresolved, this can make you more susceptible to chronic problems. Chiropractic adjustments reduce pain, increase movement, and improve performance. Your history is vital as it reveals clues about your current health, such as surgeries, accidents, the onset of your condition, and other details. After reviewing your history and discussing your goals, a thorough orthopedic, neurological, and chiropractic examination will be performed. Your chiropractor will explain what’s causing your pain, make a treatment plan, and treat you. Our goal is to get you out of pain with as few treatments as possible.
Techniques Used:
- Diversified Manual (Hands-on) Adjustments
- Drop-Table Technique
- Flexion/Distraction Technique
- Activator Technique – “The Clicker”
Our doctors are trained in many techniques such as diversified technique or a hands-on approach; they may utilize drop-table, flexion/distraction, pelvic blocking, and Activator, depending on the patient’s condition and preference. Chiropractic adjustments will reduce joint restrictions and improve how the body moves. When joints move better, they hurt less. This reduces pain, inflammation, muscle spasm and tension, and most importantly, helps you feel better! Other therapies may be used in addition to chiropractic adjustments, such as ice or heat, exercise instruction, manual muscle work, stretching, taping, and dietary modifications.
