Do you ever wonder what that popping noise is during an adjustment?
Do you hate it, or do you crave it?
Clicking or popping of the spinal joints is a phenomenon that can happen as a result of an adjustment; however it is not necessary for the adjustment to occur. When Chiropractors adjust joints in the spine, they are putting motion into joints that currently lacking movement or are “fixated”. When the adjustment is applied, the joint will move past its active range of motion, creating gas within the joint capsule to separate, thus resulting in a click or a pop. If the joint is unable to achieve this range of motion, no click or pop will most likely be heard, but it does not mean that movement did not occur in the joint. Chiropractors do have many techniques that can prevent the clicking or popping noise if it would be something that you prefer, that can achieve the same great results!
